Get your MOJO on - MOJO PIZZA

Pizza one of the most popular fast food, especially if you live away from home and are a lazy slob like me. Now that we have a plethora of choices in the market, you can hardly get tired of this pie.

With so many choices, everyone has separate preference for their pizza. But one thing in common is the toppings. We all want the best and a lot of it. In comes, Mojo Pizza with their generous helping of delicious toppings and so many choices you'd probably go nuts.

Another unique thing about Mojo is that they make only 10 inch medium pizza, so you either you go hard or you go home (with the pizza of course). I decided to treat my friends with some of the pizzas on offer.

PANEER MAYHEM was pizza is, as the name suggests, a vegetarian one, which I wouldn't eat normally but let me tell you, the toppings were ah-mazing. And cheese was so generously put on top that every bite was a burst of flavor. I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed it.

CHICKEN BARBEQUE had bits of barbeque chicken with other veggies. The amount of topping yet agai, came as a pleasant surprise. But my favorite of the night was FANTASTIC FOUR which was loaded with chicken in the form of roast chciken and sausages. Needless to say, the cheesiness was on point.

I normally have a partiality for thin crust pizzas and detest the bready ones they serve in the popular commercial chains, which I find overwhelming and cloying. But I quite liked the base in these pizza. It wasn't thin crust, but you could tell that bread was freshly baked and so just as soft. Also, I favored it much more once I found out it was wheat based and not the usual maida based. Yay.

The delivery was on time and pizzas we got were piping hot with the cheese still bubbly. Their app is also available to download from the playstore and has much more offers which you can check out if you are craving pizza tonight.

As for my friends, going by the number of times they have ordered pizzas from Mojo, it's safe to say they are now Mojo-converts. :D

Bubble Bee and FOMO

05:31:00 Sudipti Singh 0 Comments

As we live through days with our noses pressed against our phones, sharing our life in social media and going through what's the newest  in the world, it's not to get major FOMO (Fear of missing out) if you haven't tried the latest 'trend' yet.

The current flavor of the month as per the numerous posts popping in my insta is probably the Bubble Bee's bubbly waffles. It definitely makes for a delicious picture with the waffle enfolding an overflowing yet enticing mess of cream, chocolates, fruits, sprinkles and likes. Also, it's hard not to get the left out feeling if you are a food blogger attending an event and apparently everybody and their grandmothers have been to this place. Talk about FOMO.

However, for the last few months I have hardly been going out by myself to protest (read: sulk) over Mr.TKD moving out of town, so I have been the unfashionable one in soirees. Then Mr. TKD came visiting and the first thing he insisted on was to visit this place. I thought it was rather sweet because he is not a dessert person so, it probably was for me. Though the sheer number of pictures we took for our insta did make me feel like it might have been more for our profile than me, but bleh, I got to eat the whole thing by myself, so who's the winner anyway.

The place is a tiny outlet with seriously sweet aunties behind the bar, taking your order. It felt homely and comfortable. They have a seating area with 5-6 tables and the whole place looks like it's been in a DIY video. With ropes and twinkly lights up on the canopy to tiny paper-quilled bees hanging around it seemed like a artsy project done right. I especially loved the small jars, diy'ed into spoon holders, with x-masy patterns stenciled on them with glitter.

The menu is short and to the point. You came for bubble waffles, you get them. So you have the option for the base (They had chocolate and red velvet), the filling (whipped cream, coffee cream or ice cream) and toppings (fruits, choclates etc)

I chose a red velvet waffle with whipped cream (always whipped cream <3 ) and a topping of fruits like strawberry, pineapple and kiwi along with kit kat and sprinkles. My waffle came over-flowing with all these goodness and a good helping of sauces and sprinkles. One tip I'd give you is keep all table manners at home when you come, because there's no better way to eat this than to dig in. And I did. I loved it and for a brief moment, so did Mr. TKD. He loved the filling and the fruits. Though he got a panic attack when he had an accidental bite of the waffle. (phew, these diet freaks, really)

Mr. TKD instead for a bubble tea. Now that's another thing that has been a fad in a while and we have always thought boba drinks are the funnest. So he went for a Green Apple green tea with blueberry boba which was so good I had to get my own (also because somebody is not a good sharer *eye roll*) I got the Lychee flavor with strawberry boba and it was so refreshing. I'd suggest you go for the bigger glass as the difference is only of 20 rs but you get a lot more for that.

So go and get your own DIY waffle and a pretty picture for insta. You don't want to be left out, do you? :)

Level 12, Double Tree by Hilton

05:06:00 Sudipti Singh 0 Comments

Mr. TKD and I, we go for restaurant crawls, burger hog fests and shawarma bingeing sessions but I'd hardly call them date. I know, there are movie nights and fancy-schmacy restaurants thrown into the mix but it hardly feels date-y during the movies when we are squabbling over the last bite of the hot dog or slapping each other's hand for a turn at grabbing the popcorn.

We prefer staying in, binge watching the star-wars movies to going out for parties. (Unless they have food there, then we definitely choose food) My ideal date would probably be a book place with a cafe in it. But knowing Mr. TKD, his probably would be catching some snooze.

Even then we came quite close to real, nice date at a rooftop cinema cum eatery until Mr. TKD enquired if the chicken we ate was giving me gas too.

Yes, anyway. I brought up this insightful topic up because we were at Level 12 at Double Tree by Hilton and it gave off the date night vibe like no other place. And it's located at Chinchwad. I know, I know what you might be thinking, we were taken aback by the sheer unlikeliness of this incredible place too. But it had to be here, because the serene beauty of the moonlit night and distinct calmness of the sweeping view of the twinkling lights that this place provides can hardly be found in the mad hustle of the main city.

It seemed like we had arrived at the perfect night. Clear skies, gentle breeze, soothing, live sufi music in the background and candle lit tables, everything charms you right as you step in. The whole area is divided into an upper and lower decks with a swimming pool in the middle with giant, gently glowing orbs floating on them. If this doesn't scream date-night, I don't know what will.

Everything went smoothly from there on as the whole staff seemed to take us under their wing. We were served attentively and perfectly and the Chef himself appeared occasionally with incredible dishes to prove that our appetite could be stretched to its farthest limits.

We started off with VEGETARIAN and NON VEGETARIAN KEBAB PLATTER which featured selected starters chosen by the Chef himself. The fact that we actually loved the vegetarian starters was a proof of how amazing the food was. We usually prefer not to eat vegetarian when eating out but we were thanking our stars (which we could see clearly above us, btw) for giving the chef a free rein.

Some of our favorites from the VEGETARIAN PLATTER were:

WATERLESS GOLGAPPA: It was what you'd call a dahi puri but the Chef seemed to have waved his magic wand over it because it had literally transformed into a 5 star dish. The puris were crunchy and the insides was an amalgamation of deliciousness. Dahi, nuts, spices all mixed to perfection. **TRY TRY**

CORN AND CHEESE KURKURE: It looked like a spring roll but on a deliciously crunchy side, which I loved. Inside was a welcome mix of corn and cheese and spices. Love!

PANEER TIKKA: The good ol' quintessential dish on every vegetarian's plate was delicious and for once I didn't feel bad for my vegetarian brethren.

If I loved the vegetarian fare, needless to say the NON VEGETARIAN PLATTER was golden. I loved the whole thing right from the HIGHWAY CHICKEN TIKKA (oh so spicy, yet so yummy) to the SEEKH KEBAB (minced lamb) to FISH TIKKA. The FISH especially was so tender, it was falling apart at touch. Probably, the closest we have come to liking a non-chicken dish more. :P

We also had a MUSHROOM and CHEESE dish which was delicious. Mr. TKD is a great fan of mushrooms so he couldn't be happier.

The Chef then conjured up the KACCHE GHADE KA PAKA MURG which was a show stopper of the starters, probably. So, the chicken is marinated for almost 12 hours in curd, strawberries and spices and then its placed in a raw clay pot. The mouth of the pot is sealed and its put into the tandoor where as the pot gets fired as well as the chicken inside cooks. I found it fascinating and even more so, when the Chef expertly broke the pot and served us with the piping hot chicken pieces.

The chicken was perfection. It had the slight undertone of strawberries which was used for marination but it was perfectly spiced. It was served with a special tangy, spicy dip which only made it better.

When we were thinking we could eat no more, we were served the 12 KI DAAL with AMRITSARI KULCHA, and might I say that we would have been happy even if there was no chicken for mains. It was that delicious. I am not very fond of daal (lentils) much to my mother's distress but here I was polishing off my bowl of daal. If you live around, you should definitely drop by to taste this, if nothing else.

The KULCHAs were pillowy soft and incredibly tasty. These kulchas were giving kulcha-goals to all other kulchas in the market. We ate it with CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA and BOONDI RAITA and literally cried because:
1.) It was so damn exquisite
2.)We couldn't stop eating

We were ready to give up when the Chef thought it would be funny to send over a cooker of KACCHE GOSHT KI BIRYANI over at our table. We had no choice. When you are served such mouth-wateringly aromatic biryani with delectable chunks of spiced lamb, you don't say no. So yes, dear reader, we ate it all like two gluttons on a buffet breakfast. #NoRegrets

We finished off the grand affair with JALANDHAR KI SPECIAL PISTA MALAI KULFI which is made from scratch in the kitchen, every element taken care of. It showed in the kulfi as it was rich and very smooth and creamy.

Mridul Khosla, the Marketing executive for Hilton as well as our host for the evening, only made the evening more fun. She was warm and welcoming and it was like sitting down to dinner with a friend. If you are reading this, thanks a ton! :*

As a cue perhaps, fireworks went off in the horizon as we sat nursing our glasses of wine looking over the expanse of twinkling lights. And it was a perfect date.

Functional Unit

11:53:00 Unknown 0 Comments

If you move further away from Aundh and by that I mean Wakad, Pimpri etc, your zomato listing will be limited to fewer and fewer cafe options. We live in Wakad ourselves and the dearth of good breakfast places stands starkly in comparison to amazing options that other places like KP or Aundh or even Baner offers.

There has been a host of new eating joints opening up in the vicinity, but trust me when I say this, that the saturday mornings that I wake up with mind numbing waffle cravings usually ends up with Uber ride to the place (sometimes more) 10 kms away after looking for a place around our place, in vain.

So we have slowly been conditioned into filtering out wakad or pimple saudagar, so when we got a call from the guys from Function Unit Cafe guys, we weren't expecting a lot but we decided to give it a go anyway.

The cafe is located in the Pimple, a bit hard to find if you are new to the locality, but there's always google maps. The place is small but nicely done up to depict the raw edginess of a factory scene. Meter gauges and chains suspended in a corner to exposed piping on the walls, the guys at The Functional Unit have done a good job. It's cosy for a morning breakfast or catching up with people.

We were served the CHEESY CHICKEN WAFFLE first. Now, I am a waffle fanatic and I like them sweet. The sheer idea of trying a savory one as opposed to sweet was giving me mini anxiety attacks. Would it be good? Would I be missing out on the sweet one by trying this instead? Would this kill my appetite and make sure I can't have the sweet ones even if I wanted to?
Well, the answer was 'yes' to all but one. The dish turned out surprisingly good. The waffle was loaded with piping hot, cheesy chicken bits. The white sauce was tasty and the seasoning was perfect.
And yes, it did kill my appetite but no, I certainly did not miss out on anything by trying this.

My only grievance here was the waffle base. I like my waffles crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft and pliable on the inside. I'm sure most of us do. We all have our own preference, but the already soft waffles turned downright soggy with the cheesy sauces after a few minutes. Not very appetizing after you are halfway through the dish.

Next up was CHICKEN STEAK WITH PEPPER SAUCE. Now this was a cracker of a dish. We really enjoyed finishing this meal off. It had generous portions of steak with a good amount of delicious mashed potatoes with some grilled veggies and sauces on the side. The dish was at par with any similar dish you might try at a cafe in KP for far more money.

The good thing about the dishes I tried was the portion size. Both consisted of a generous helping of food and seemed like a great value for money.

For drinks we tried the VIRGIN MOJITO and ICED TEA which were decent.

If you live around the area, I'd suggest you drop in for some eats. The menu looks pretty good with hot dogs, pan cakes and waffles. I'm tempted to go back too. When I do, you'll know ;)

Hop in to Hoppipola

10:42:00 Unknown 0 Comments

If you have been following us, you know how we crib about weekends all this while. Did you just ask why? Well, that's because vegetating is not very fun. So long story short, we decided to check out Hoppipola which seemed to be very popular especially among our friends. We decided to go to the Magarpatta City branch (They do have a branch in Aundh as well, right on the edge of ITI road).

The place seemed nice and had a peppy vibe to it. Just the type of place to hang out with friends, grab a drink or two, and chill. The place also seemed to have a lot of board games which people could play with friend while sipping on their drinks.
There were not many people around because it was afternoon and  we took our sweet time to pick our spot.
Even though, the staff was a bit bust prepping for a dj night in the evening, they still seemed pretty attentive.

The food menu majorly consisted of finger food but the bar menu seemed to be pretty extensive. We decided to order AUCKLAND ICE FREEZE and WATERMELON AND BASIL (Yes, Miss TKD is big on watermelon)

The AUCKLAND ICE FREEZE was LIIT with Malibu and a touch of kiwi. The kiwi flavor was very mild and did not overpower. I am a sucker for good LIITs and this hit all the right buttons.

The Watermelon and Basil seemed a bit sweet for my liking and had a hint of Basil (although some more Basil might have given it a different touch) but Miss TKD seemed to have liked it looking at how she gulped down her drink.

We decided to order Chicken Trilogy and Koliwada Prawns and Harisaan Fish with our drinks.

The CHICKEN TRILOGY was chicken done three ways with tomato, cream and coriander sauce. The meat felt a bit chewy and lacked flavor.

The HARISAN FISH was fish skewers served with a dip. The fish was super tender and seasoning just gave it the right amount of spiciness. Also, its a nice change from all the chicken, though it doesn't mean we are getting tired of chicken. That's not happening.

The prawns were served in a bowl with a salsa made in mumbai style. The salsa was mildly spicy and went well with the prawns. The prawns were the best of the lot according to us.

We also ordered PASTA in white sauce with bacon and PEPPERONI PIZZA.

The pizza had a thin crust, super light and delicious. It had the right amount of cheese and meat and we enjoyed eating that with our drinks. It was served warm and we polished it off in no time.

The pasta on the other hand was loaded with cheese. I am sure a lot of people would like their pasta done this way but we felt that it was a bit too much even for us. Also since they hadn't added any thing other than tiny pieces of bacon, it was also lacking texture. More of a mac and cheese, we'd say.

Over all, we had a nice time, sitting outdoors and enjoying the mall vibe. It is quaint, cute and fun place to chill at. They have games going on for guests at all times. Make sure to enquire the friendly servers. They made us feel right at home.

Make a beeline for here this weekend!
